£203,000 donated to Scottish Charities

Twenty-eight Scottish charities are set to benefit from awards totalling £203,335 in the final tranche of donations for 2012 from the Bank of Scotland Foundation

This latest tranche brings the Foundation's donations to in excess of £1 million during 2012 alone and brings total donations to well in excess of £2.5 million since the Bank of Scotland Foundation was launched in November 2010. The Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity that receives an annual donation of £1m from Lloyds Banking Group.

Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and HR Director, Capability & Engagement, Lloyds Banking Group commented, “2012 has been another very successful year for the Bank of Scotland Foundation and we are delighted that our grants continue to have a positive impact on communities across Scotland. These newest grants, totalling over two hundred thousand pounds, will help the charities to deliver valuable support and make a genuine, tangible difference to the local communities in which they operate.”

Central Scotland  - two awards totalling £17,488 for Made 4U in ML2 and Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau
Glasgow – six awards amounting to £46,000 for a range of charities including Scottish Drugs Forum
Highlands & Islands – two awards totalling £15,000 for Caithness Voluntary Group and Badenoch & Strathspey Community Transport Company
Lothians – seven awards totalling £58,223 for a range of charities including Whitecraig Community Centre Association 
Mid Scotland and Fife – six awards totalling £32,986 for a range of charities including Citizens Advice & Rights Fife 
North East Scotland – two awards totalling £7,600 to Spectrum and Home-Start Kincardine 
South Scotland – one award of £9,250 to East Ayrshire Carers Centre
West Scotland – two awards totalling £16,788 to Tullochan and RAMH

The Bank of Scotland Foundation donations help with developing and improving local communities and financial literacy across the breadth of Scotland. 

Applying for a grant: 

Applications for the Small Grants Programme are accepted between £1,000 and £20,000 from charities registered in Scotland only. Grants are awarded for one year. Full details and a Small Grants application form can be downloaded here.
