A further £231,355 to Scottish Charities

Thirty-two Scottish charities are set to benefit from awards totalling £231,355 in the third tranche of donations this year from the Bank of Scotland Foundation

This latest tranche brings the Foundation's donations to in excess of £900,000 during 2012 alone and brings total donations to well in excess of £2 million since the Bank of Scotland Foundation was launched in November 2010. The Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity that receives an annual donation of £1m from Lloyds Banking Group.

Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and HR Director, Insurance, Lloyds Banking Group commented, “Yet again we’ve had a brilliant response to the Bank of Scotland Foundation Small Grants Programme. We are delighted that these grants will provide such valuable support to so many deserving Scottish charities.” 

Summary of awards:

  • Central Scotland  - two awards amounting to £15,000 for Central Advocacy Partners and Getting Better Together
  • Glasgow – eleven awards amounting to £74,019 for a range of charities including PEEK (Possibilities East End Kids)
  • Lothians – twelve awards amounting to £89,994 for a range of charities including Muirhouse Youth Development Group
  • Mid Scotland and Fife – three awards amounting to £15,502 for a range of charities including SCYD (Strathmore Centre for Youth Development)
  • North East Scotland – one award of £8,000 to Befriend a Child 
  • South Scotland – one award of £7,500 to The Borders Forest Trust
  • West Scotland – three awards amounting to £21,340 for a range of charities including Shoot for Success

The Bank of Scotland Foundation donations help with developing and improving local communities and financial literacy across the breadth of Scotland. Charities have until 5pm on Monday 14th January 2013 to send in their applications for the first tranche of funding for 2013. 

Applying for a grant: 

Applications for the Small Grants Programme are accepted between £1,000 and £20,000 from charities registered in Scotland only. Grants are awarded for one year. Full details and a Small Grants application form can be downloaded from the website at www.bankofscotlandfoundation.org
