BOS Foundation awards £1.2M of grants in 2015

During 2015, a total of 88 Scottish charities benefitted from Bank of Scotland Foundation grants totalling over £1.2m. All those charities successfully applied for funding through the Foundation’s 2015 Small, Medium and Large Grants programmes.

The Bank of Scotland Foundation has released figures for its latest tranche of funding, where 42 Scottish charities received grants totalling over £393,500 in the second half of 2015.

Philip Grant, Chair of the Scottish Executive Committee, Lloyds Banking Group and recently appointed Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees said, “We are delighted the Bank of Scotland Foundation has been able to award such a significant amount to Scottish charities in the second half of 2015.

“The work that charities do, and support they provide to their communities, is so vitally important throughout the year, let alone over the festive period. There were 88 Scottish charities that benefitted from Bank of Scotland Foundation Grant awards totalling almost £1.2m during 2015, so I would really encourage other local charities to apply for the  funding we  have available during 2016.”

The awards from this latest tranche will help those 42 charities in a number of ways, including: -

  • Holding two weekend camps for 65 young people, that will improve their confidence and develop independent living skills
  • Paying for the recruitment and training of volunteers that will support the elderly and reduce isolation
  • Meeting salary and overhead costs of money advice charities to ensure they can continue to provide much needed services to people experiencing financial difficulties
  • Providing science workshops in 20 rural  schools to increase children’s motivation and ensure they engage  with science
