Scottish Charities benefit from £275,000 of grants

Scottish Charities benefit from £275,000 of grants

The Bank of Scotland Foundation, an independent charity that supports people and their local communities across Scotland, announces grants totalling £276,676 from three separate grant making programmes. This brings the total sum distributed since the Foundation's launch in November 2010 to £5.3m.

Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and HR Director, Culture, Capability & Engagement, Lloyds Banking Group commented, “Since November 2010, over 750 Scottish charities have benefited from funding from the Bank of Scotland Foundation. I am truly delighted that funding from the Foundation has been able to help charities across Scotland positively impact the lives of so many people within their communities."

“As a Foundation that supports core running costs I am pleased at the tangible difference charities can make with this funding.  The launch of two new grant programmes in 2014 will enable more charities to have the opportunity to apply for this much needed core funding.”

In addition to providing core funding, the Bank of Scotland Foundation launched (on 13th October) its first ever Large Grants Programme to provide funding over multiple years. This will help charities develop in a more sustainable way by providing more benefits to communities over the long term. This additional programme will provide grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 to registered Scottish charities. The closing date for applications is 5pm on 27th February 2015.

The Foundation also continues to run a Small Grants Programme for awards of between £1,000 and £10,000 and a Medium Grants Programme for awards of between £10,001 and £25,000. These programmes are currently accepting applications and the next closing date is 5pm on 12th January 2015.
