Additional Grants Programme launched
Reinforcing its commitment to charities based across the breadth of Scotland, Bank of Scotland Foundation has today announced the launch of a new Grants Programme. In addition to those it already offers, the launch of the new Medium Grants Programme ensures the Foundation is now in a position to impact a much wider range of charities than before.
Charities successful in applying to the new programme will receive grants of between £10,001 and £25,000 to develop and improve their communities. This new grant is in addition to the Foundation’s Small Grants Programme and Matched Giving Programme. All grants are provided to help support the development and improvement of local communities and, in addition, the Medium Grants programme is also designed to help improve financial literacy and financial inclusion.
Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and HR Director, Capability & Engagement, Lloyds Banking Group commented, “We are delighted to see the funding provided by Lloyds Banking Group double to £2m per annum. The impact this will have on our ability to help charities across the breadth of Scotland, regardless of their size, will be significant and places the Bank of Scotland Foundation in an even stronger position to impact the critical work charities undertake within their communities.”
Bank of Scotland Foundation launched on 11th November 2010, and during that time has:
- Provided 295 grants to over 250 charities across the entire breadth of Scotland
- Donated over £4m to charities working across Scotland to improve their communities, reaching over 50,000 people.
- Supported almost 50 new roles
Samia al Qadhi, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care said:
“The fantastic grants offered by the Bank of Scotland Foundation are incredibly important to us. They not only mean we can support people affected by breast cancer in Scotland now but help us plan ahead and expand our services to reach out and help even more.
“The Bank of Scotland Foundation has awarded us grants of over £40,000 in the last two years for volunteering which has helped us extend our unique ‘HeadStrong’ hair loss service across the nation by recruiting and training more volunteers to deliver this support. Every year, 4,400 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in Scotland and hair loss can be one of the most devastating aspects of cancer treatment, affecting confidence and body image.
“We’re incredibly grateful for this support and today’s announcement is great news for charities working across Scotland to help secure much needed funds. ”
The Medium Grants Programme will open on 6 January 2014 and further information including application forms can be found here.
