Bank of Scotland Foundation awards £1.44 million to boost financial resilience across Scotland

Bank of Scotland Foundation, an independent charity funded solely by Lloyds Banking Group, is proud to announce that 19 Scottish charities will share £1,440,000 in unrestricted, multi-year funding through its financial resilience Thrive grants programme.

Thrive is delivered as a joint initiative in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group and our sister Foundations across the UK: Lloyds Bank Foundation for England & Wales, Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, and Halifax Foundation for Northern Ireland. This unique, one-off grants programme has been made possible thanks to an additional donation from Lloyds Banking Group.

Thrive is designed to support charities that provide financial advice, budgeting assistance, debt management support and financial education, as well as charities whose primary purpose may be homelessness, mental health, disability, or domestic abuse, but who incorporate financial resilience into their work. By offering unrestricted funding, Thrive empowers charities to deliver tailored support that helps individuals and families regain control of their finances, rebuild confidence, and restore stability and dignity in their lives.

This significant investment of £1,440,000 reflects the Foundation’s commitment to helping people living in vulnerable circumstances build financial resilience and improve long-term wellbeing. The Thrive grants programme provides three-year unrestricted funding of between £30,000 and £90,000 (£10,000–£30,000 per annum) which can be used towards core costs, project costs, delivery costs and/or salary costs – wherever the charity determines need.

Donald MacKechnie, Chair of Bank of Scotland Foundation, said: “Financial resilience restores choice, confidence and dignity. By providing multi-year, flexible funding, Thrive enables charities to offer practical advice, budgeting support and education that make a tangible difference in people’s lives”.
