Bank of Scotland Foundation invests £1.62 million in charities changing lives across Scotland

Funded solely by Lloyds Banking Group, Bank of Scotland Foundation has awarded £1.62 million through its Energise grants programme, providing 50 grassroots charities across Scotland with the funding, flexibility and confidence they need to continue changing lives and strengthening communities.

At a time when many charities are experiencing unprecedented pressure from rising demand, increasing costs and funding uncertainty, the grants will provide much-needed stability and flexibility, enabling organisations to focus on what matters most: supporting people and transforming lives.

The Energise programme provides unrestricted funding over two years, recognising that charities themselves are best placed to determine where resources are needed most. Whether sustaining essential frontline services, covering core operating costs, investing in staff and volunteers, strengthening organisational resilience or responding to emerging community needs, the funding empowers charities to make decisions that will have the greatest impact.

Charities with an annual income of up to £50,000 receive £20,000 over two years, while those with an income between £50,000 and £150,000 receive £40,000 over the same period.

The 2026 cohort reflects the breadth and diversity of Scotland's voluntary sector, supporting causes ranging from food insecurity and youth development to addiction recovery, mental health and support for veterans.

Recipients include Kintyre Foodbank, Addiction Recovery Centre, First Steps Playgroup, The Wee Haven Youth Project (WHY Project), TARTAN TALKERS, Samaritans of Inverness SCIO and Veterans Support Garden, alongside dozens of other organisations improving lives within their local communities.

All 50 charities have now received their first grant payment, with a second instalment to follow in 2027.

For many organisations, this funding represents more than just financial support. It brings certainty, confidence and the ability to plan ahead, ensuring they can continue delivering life-changing services for the people and communities that rely on them most.
