Grants totalling £215,589 awarded in finale of 2014

23 Scottish charities will benefit from the last tranche of funding made by the Bank of Scotland Foundation this year. This final tranche, in excess of £215,000, brings total grants made during 2014 by the Foundation to over £815,000 benefitting some 97 Scottish charities. This brings the total sum distributed since the Foundation’s launch in November 2010 to £5.7m.
 
Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and HR Director, Culture, Capability & Engagement, Lloyds Banking Group commented, "We are delighted that 2014 has been such a successful year for the Bank of Scotland Foundation. During the year we have been able to significantly increase our grant giving portfolio, and are now in an even stronger position to impact the critical work charities undertake. All of our programmes help local Scottish charities continue to deliver valuable support and make a genuine, tangible difference to the local communities in which they operate."

During 2014 Bank of Scotland Foundation has:

  • Launched its first ever Large Grants Programme offering charities sustainable funding over multiple years
  • Launched a new Financial Inclusion Grants Programme to further help improve the quality of life for those who are facing challenging circumstances
  • Launched a new Medium Grants Programme allowing the Foundation to impact a much wider range of charities  
  • Seen its annual donation from Lloyds Banking Group double to £2 million 

The Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity that supports people and their local communities across Scotland. The Foundation receives £2m annually from Lloyds Banking Group to fund all of its Grant Programmes together with a Matched Giving Programme for Lloyds Banking Group colleagues based in Scotland

Large Grants Programme:

  • Opened for grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 on 13 October 2014
  • Closes to applications on 27 February 2015 at 5pm
  • Successful applications announced during June 2015
  • Funds can be used over one or two years depending on the needs of the charity
  • The focus of the awards will be to support developing and improving communities and financial inclusion and financial literacy in areas of demonstrable need

Financial Inclusion Grants Programme: 

  • Opened for grants of between £1,000 and £20,000 on 9 June 2014
  • Currently closed to applications 
  • Funds can be used to deliver projects that promote financial inclusion and money advice
  • In addition to funding, the successful charities will also have the potential to benefit from the wealth of experience and diverse skill sets of Lloyds Banking Group employees through volunteering

Small Grants Programme:

  • Open for grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 
  • Next closing  date is 5pm on 12 January 2015
  • Funds can be used for developing and improving local communities

Medium Grants Programme:

  • Open for grants of between £10,001 and £25,000 
  • Next closing  date is 5pm on 12 January 2015
  • Funds can be used for developing and improving local communities and / or financial literacy and financial inclusion
