New Enable grants programme awards £1.4 million to Scottish charities
Twenty-four Scottish charities have received an invaluable injection of funding this festive season, thanks to Bank of Scotland Foundation. The Edinburgh based independent charity, solely funded by Lloyds Banking Group, has awarded each local charity a share of £1,440,000 through its multi-year grants programme, Enable.
Enable is an innovative joint grants programme in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group, designed to enhance community volunteering efforts. The programme provides funding to eligible charities for projects that rely on volunteers, with Lloyds Banking Group colleagues across Scotland contributing their time and expertise to help deliver on projects and offer support. This initiative allows charities to apply for grants ranging from £30,000 to £90,000 over three years (£10,000 to £30,000 per annum) for various volunteering projects, costs, and initiatives.
Among the grant recipients are Befrienders Highland, Crisis, Families First St Andrews, Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust and Pilton Community Health, ensuring a diverse and wide geographic reach of charities across Scotland.
Donald MacKechnie, Chair of Bank of Scotland Foundation, said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Lloyds Banking Group and involving colleague volunteers through our Enable grant programme. Scotland’s charities have already seen great success with volunteering projects, and we look forward to enhancing local community volunteering even further throughout the country”.
