Thrive Q&A

Please see the general Grants Application Q&A as well.

Our Thrive programme offers charities a three-year, unrestricted grant of £75k (£25k per annum).  This is a fixed amount, so there is no minimum or maximum range to apply for.

Unfortunately, no. To be eligible, the charity number on your application must have at least two-years’ accounts checked by OSCR.

If you are unsure if your charity is eligible, you can contact the team at enquiries@bankofscotlandfoundation.co.uk or phone 07384 902196.

Thrive is designed to support charities that help people in vulnerable circumstances improve their financial wellbeing. This includes activities such as:

  • Financial advice and education
  • Budgeting and debt management support
  • Practical financial assistance
  • Personalised guidance to build long-term financial resilience

Charities whose core mission is not financial resilience but who incorporate it into their work - for example, those focused on homelessness, disability, mental health, domestic abuse, or ethnicity - are also eligible to apply.

Unrestricted funding can be used towards core costs, delivery costs, project costs and/or general running costs enabling charities to use their funding in the way that helps them best and deal with challenges quickly and effectively.

If your charity offers financial resilience related activities but this is not your core purpose, unrestricted funding (of £25k per annum for three years) can be used solely on any reasonable costs associated with delivering the focus area of financial resilience e.g. core costs, project costs, delivery costs, salary costs.

If you are unsure if your charity delivers financial resilience related activities, you can contact the team at enquiries@bankofscotlandfoundation.co.uk or phone 07384 902196

Charities we support will be required to demonstrate that they put people in vulnerable circumstances at the heart of everything they do. People in vulnerable circumstances can be impacted by a range of factors such as their social, economic or physical circumstances. Examples of vulnerability can include education barriers, mobility/transport issues, learning disabilities, family-related challenges, poverty, housing and employment difficulties, and poor mental health and emotional wellbeing.

If you are unsure if your charity supports people in vulnerable circumstances, you can contact the team at enquiries@bankofscotlandfoundation.co.uk or phone 07384 902196

Successful applicants will be awarded a three-year grant through Thrive.
