Potential candidates could come from a variety of different backgrounds and should have a good knowledge of the issues facing local communities and the voluntary sector. They should have experience of working at board level and be confident that they can make a valuable contribution to the Foundation's work.

Bank of Scotland Foundation, an independent charity supporting people and their local communities across Scotland, is making preparations to expand its funding programmes later this year.    ‘Supporting Positive Change Across Scotland’ is the Foundation’s five-year strategic plan which will see a range of new funding programmes open in 2019 and 2020 as the Foundation rethinks its approach to how it invests and becomes a more flexible grant maker.

Due to the overwhelming demand for Bank of Scotland Foundation’s 2018 Mental Health Fund last year, the Foundation is offering Scotland’s mental health projects a further opportunity to apply for funding. Launching today, Monday 28 January, funding will be made available to mental health charities and other charities that deliver projects focussing on mental health.

January 2019

Bank of Scotland Foundation, an independent charity supporting people and their local communities across Scotland, had its busiest year in 2018, awarding 121 grants to Scottish charities totalling £1,661,157. Awards were made through the Foundation’s Small, Medium and Large Grants Programmes, however its Mental Health Fund - an additional programme launched in May - meant more charities than ever received funding last year.

October 2018

After launching its Mental Health Fund in May - a one-off funding programme to help support mental health charities and other charities that deliver projects focussing on mental health - Bank of Scotland Foundation has awarded 28 Scottish charities with a share of £356,473. Such was the demand for financial support of mental health projects that the initial budget of £320,000 was increased to enable more charities to be funded over the next year.

July 2018

A total of 44 charities have welcomed £889,880 of funding from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Small, Medium and Large Grants Programmes during the first half of 2018, benefitting community projects right across Scotland. 

Of these, six were charities receiving Large Grants totalling £482,170. Now in its fourth year, the Large Grants programme provides successful charities with steady, reliable, funding of between £50,000 and £100,000 for larger projects over one or two years. Awards made this year were for:-

Mental health projects across Scotland are being offered vital financial support this year, with the launch of a new Mental Health Fund from Bank of Scotland Foundation. Launched today, Monday 14 May, during Mental Health Awareness Week, £320,000 of funding will be made available to mental health charities and other charities that deliver projects focussing on mental health.

January 2018

£100,000 from charities registered in Scotland. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 16 February 2018.

Now in its fourth year, 16 charities across Scotland have benefited from over £1.3m of funding through the Foundation’s Large Grants Programme so far. The focus of the awards is to develop and improve communities, as well as support financial inclusion and financial literacy in areas of demonstrable need.

August 2017

Scotland’s Third Sector received a significant boost in the first half of 2017, with 46 charities sharing £833,257 after successfully applying for funding through Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Small, Medium and Large Grants Programmes.

April 2017

Local charities are being invited to pop along to a roadshow that the Bank of Scotland Foundation is holding in Coatbridge on Friday 5 May, where representatives will be on hand to answer questions and support charities with any Bank of Scotland Foundation grant applications they are currently preparing.
